President Obama and his family kicked off their Thanksgiving festivities with the traditional pardon of this year’s Presidential Turkey, Popcorn. Obama kept the ceremony light and cheery joking about Popcorn sayingy:

“The office of the presidency — the most powerful position in the world — brings with it many awesome and solemn responsibilities…”This is not one of them.” he commented on his duty of the day.

“It was, quite literally, the Hunger Games — Popcorn, you have a full reprieve from cranberry sauce and stuffing. We wish you well.” he continued.

Later in the evening, for the third consecutive year, the Obama’s gathered at the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB), to distribute sacks of sweet potatoes, onions, carrots and apples to the community. Hit the flip for photos of the Obama’s Thanksgiving Day. – ruthie hawkins/@ruubabie
