The first family hosts the 91st national Christmas tree lighting ceremony

Friday night, the first family hosted the 91st National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Ellipse south side of the White House where they were joined by Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, her babies and Janelle Monae.

President Obama also paid tribute to Nelson Mandela saying, “In his life he blessed us with tremendous grace and unbelievable courage. And we are all privileged to live in a world touched by his goodness.”
