Prosecutors are requesting that two Alabama men be held on $1 million bond each for holding a 9-year-old boy captive and taping the rape and sodomy of the pre-teen and exposing him to an STD.
Huntsville, Ala. prosecutors stated that the case was is so revolting and stomach-churning that police officers could not even identify the boy because they could not stand to look. AL.com reports.
Carl Phillip Herold, the boy’s father, is charged with sodomy, sexual abuse, aggravated child abuse, child pornography production, distributing child pornography and allowing his child to be depicted in pornography.
Herold’s partner, Charles Dunnavant, is charged with sexual torture, sodomy, aggravated child abuse and exposing a person to an STD.
“He has the means of travel, family out of state and some of the allegations are there was much travel in the lives of Dunnavant and Herold,” Madison County Assistant District Attorney Gabrielle Helix said at a bond hearing Monday. “They held the child captive for eight months and there are no standards, taboos or lines this defendant and his co-defendant hesitated to cross.”
Herold reportedly moved into Huntsville from Wyoming about eight months ago, prosecutors alleged in court, and quickly moved in with Dunnavant. Soon thereafter, the two began a “sex porn ring.”
The 9-year-old boy was not detected by any school officials, because prosecutors say his son was not enrolled in school in Huntsville. In fact, the two men kept held captive in the home without interaction with the outside world.
Evidence shows the men took the child across state lines for “criminal sexual purposes,” AL.com reported.
Herold, a computer programmer, ran a popular YouTube channel where he livestreams programming lessons.
Dunnavant, who grew up near the northern Alabama and southern Tennessee border, was arrested at a family member’s home in Tennessee.
