Hot 97 has revealed the lineup for its 2014 Summer Jam concert and this seems to be one for the ages. Lil Wayne, Nas, 50 Cent, Nicki Minaj and Wiz Khalifa are among the headliners expected to take the stage at this year’s show.
Taking place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., June 1st, Hot 97’s Summer Jam is the biggest hip-hop concert of the year and always brings with it a lot of attention and oftentimes controversy. Minaj famously pulled out of the show two years ago after she felt she was dissed by Hot 97 host Peter Rosenberg. Over a decade ago, Nas planned to stage a mock lynching of his then rival Jay Z on the Summer Jam stage.
With the limiting and financial troubles of the Rock the Bells festival and the relative newness of Jay Z’s Made In America festival (not to mention the fact that Made In America doesn’t exclusively feature hip-hop acts) Summer Jam is unquestionably the premiere hip-hop concert of the year.
Also appearing at this year’s show are The Roots and friends, Troy Ave, Action Bronson, Kid Ink, Wiz Khalifa, Trey Songz, YMCMB, DJ Mustard, YG, Ty Dolla $ign, Childish Gambino, Iggy Azalea, Nipsey Hussle, Chinx, Jhene Aiko, Mack Wilds and August Alsina.
