Ray Rice pleads not guilty to third degree aggravated assault
Life continues to get messy for Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, who several days ago, pleaded not guilty after he was indicted on third-degree aggravated assault charges against his fiancée-turned-wife Janay Palmer.
Days after his indictment, Ray and Palmer married in what some are saying was a sneaky attempt to downplay the situation. Ray then applied for a pretrial intervention program in an attempt to avoid formal prosecution but is awaiting acceptance.
Unfortunately for the NFL star, if he is not accepted into the pretrial intervention program, he’ll have to report to court May 29 to face the heavy charges.
Luckily for Rice, should he be accepted into the program, there is a chance that he could accept a plea agreement where he would receive no jail time and only probation. In addition, Rice would have to attend anger-management counseling. While this may seem like a nicely wrapped deal, in order to receive the plea agreement, the running back would have to plead guilty.
As you may recall, Ray was arrested in February at the Revel Casino and Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey after a brutal brawl between him and his wife Janay Palmer that left his child’s mother unconscious. – ruthie hawkins/@ruubabie
