A scene of horror and fear gripped the streets of Las Vegas, Nevada yesterday as a white supremacist terror cell struck. An unidentified man and woman entered a CiCi’s pizza on Sunday and executed two veteran police officers. Witness accounts stated that the pair screamed “this is the start of a revolution” as they shot police officers. The two officers Alyn Beck, 41, and Igor Soldo, 31, were both married with children.
After killing the two officers the pair stripped the bodies of weapons, ammo and police badges and draped the bodies with a Revolutionary War flag known as the “Gadsden flag.” The flag features a coiled snake with the motto “Don’t Tread on Me.” The pair then passed witness Alvaro Lopez who stated that the male suspect told him “to tell the cops that it was a revolution and that he’d just killed two cops inside CiCi’s.”
The shooters crossed to a nearby Walmart where they killed an unidentified innocent woman at the entrance. The pair then entered the store and moved to the rear of the building where a gun battle with police officers then ensued inside the Walmart. Law enforcement officials stated that the female suspect at some point shot her husband and then turned the gun on herself committing suicide.
Police and FBI officials later cordoned off the block and apartment building where the suspects lived. According to witnesses, there was a small explosion with no explanation given as to its cause. Police did state that they found white supremacist materials and swastika emblems at the residence. According to the building management the shooters are both believed to be in their 20’s and were involved in a militia standoff that received national attention. The standoff occurred at the ranch of Clive Bundy and became a hotbed of anti-government sentiment and a rallying point for anti-government militia groups and protesters.
Law enforcement officials currently are calling the attack and murder of the officers an isolated incident. However, Las Vegas police have increased the number of patrols and made sure that no officer is alone in a squad car. In Las Vegas, metro police generally ride solo so this is a definite change in response to the attacks. The FBI would not comment on their activities in Las Vegas or on the investigation.
