Katt Williams addresses Comedy Store gun incident, blames gangbangers

BET Comedy Icon Awards - Show

Comedian Katt Williams has given a response to reports that he was brandishing a firearm at the Comedy Store in Los Angeles earlier this week. It was previously reported by TMZ that Williams, whose had numerous, well-documented run-ins with law enforcement over the last few years, had a gun after he was harassed by a heckler at the Comedy Store. The police were called to the scene, but Williams was gone before they got there.

But the troubled funnyman says that’s not at all what happened.

According to TMZ, Williams says that he was being verbally attacked by four gangbangers who repeatedly referred to him as “Cuz,” slang for a Crip trying to identify a rival Blood. He says that the four men followed him to his car, where they beat him up. He also says that at no point did he brandish a weapon because he didn’t have a gun with him at all.

In regards to the 9-1-1 call that said he was the armed man, Williams reportedly dismissed the account as “absurd.”
