This year, “The View” underwent its greatest cast shake up when creator Barbara Walters retired and then both Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy got the ax just a few weeks ago, leaving only Whoopi Goldberg left on the cast. However, after weeks of rumors about who will replace the lost cast mates, news reports now claim that former host Rosie O’Donnell is coming back to the show next season.
According to TMZ, sources claim that negotiations between O’Donnell and the show’s producers began a few days ago and the deal was nearly completed by Monday. Now, the sources claim that the deal is done and that O’Donnell is officially part of the cast, once again.
O’Donnell originally sat at “The View” table during the 2006-2007 season but abruptly ended her stint on the show after a heated on-air argument with conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck in May 2007, going so far as to call her a “coward” during the exchange.
According to the sources, producers are now on the hunt for a Latina and conservative cast mate to join Goldberg and O’Donnell next season.
Well, we congratulate O’Donnell on her return to “The View” and we’re sure that she’s going to spice things up when the full cast makes its debut. – nicholas robinson
