Strangers bury Chicago infant whose teen parents starved her to death

Baby with no formula

Starved to death, baby Mya Edwards was laid to rest on Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church in Barrington, an affluent community in Chicago, Illinois.

Mya’s parents, Gene Edwards, 22, and Markisa Jones, 19, have pleaded not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment stemming from the girl’s death after they stopped feeding her and her twin sister Mia formula and replaced it with water.

The seven month old was mourned by 150 strangers. A single ballon was released at the cemetery.
