Yesterday CNN led with breaking news regarding the killing of Michael Brown and his killer Officer Darren Wilson. CNN gave credence to an anonymous caller’s claim that she had accurate information regarding Officer Darren Wilson’s version of events. According to the caller, Brown allegedly was the aggressor in the incident and “bum rushed” Officer Wilson.

The caller claimed that Wilson told her that he ordered Brown and his friend Dorian Joyner out of the street.  The caller, who identifed herself as Josie, then claims that Brown punched Wilson and attempted to go for the officer’s gun. It was at that time that the gun fired by accident and Brown withdrew. Josie then states that Wilson exited the vehicle and ordered Brown to stop. Instead we are to believe that Brown, according to Josie, charged Wilson who had his gun drawn. Officer Wilson then was forced to fire and he believed that Brown was on some kind of drug.

CNN’s decision to broadcast this narrative by Josie is startling. Josie was a caller on the conservative radio program “The Dana Show” on 97.1 FM in Missouri and the show is already biased towards the officer. In addition it is third hand information that differs greatly from eyewitness statements to the shooting of Brown. The caller could have been anyone claiming to know Officer Wilson and having his side of the story.  The decision by CNN to bring credence to these statements demonstrates the mainstream media’s continued character assassination of Michael Brown.
