Media maven and popular co-host from the most syndicated morning radio show, “The Breakfast Club” on FM Power 105, Angela Yee, spent her Saturday hosting a fundraiser in Detroit. On Nov. 1, 2014, Yee hosted the 32nd annual “Coats for Kids” radio-a-thon fundraiser. Local Detroit radio station FM 98.9 WJLB collaborated with The Salvation Army to raise money to purchase brand new coats for kids this winter.
Last year Detroit suffered a very harsh winter with extreme temperatures and record-breaking inches of snowfall. Aware of the large population of students who have to ride the bus to commute to and from school everyday during the winter, Yee was proud to donate her time to such a worthy cause.
Yee spent the majority of her day in Detroit broadcasting live from the Michigan Science Center alongside WJLB radio personality Bushman. Yee had the pleasure to spend some time hanging out with actress, model and R&B songstress Teyana Taylor who stopped by to support the cause and to surprise her Detroit fans. While in the D, Yee also had the opportunity to meet and interview major Detroit supporters and local artists such as popular rappers Oba Rowland and Dusty McFly as well as rising songbird Keely Ferguson and urban model, actress and newly acclaimed rapper Kash Doll.
Yee and Bushman encouraged local residents and businesses to donate winter coats as well as monetary contributions, helping to raise nearly $60,000.
