Chicago is a city that understands and appreciates the hardwood more than others. When you grow up playing on concrete playgrounds, where the wind blows so strong that the basket sways on a regular basis, developing an appreciation for an indoor court where good basketball is being played is kind of a no-brainer.
On Saturday, Nov. 15, Erwin Hill and the Windy City Hardwood Classic will welcome Tuskeegee, Wilberforce, Miles and Harris-Stowe colleges and universities to showcase their skills in a city that knows what real basketball looks like. More than just a game, the Classic features a number of community workshops and supporting events to help round out their weekend activities. The kickoff celebration for the event took place downtown at M lounge. Hit the gallery to see some of the faces that helped jump-start a wonderful event.
