The truth about Memphitz and Toya’s fractured marriage has been unfurling for months, and this week Toya finally confirmed that she is separated from Memphitz. Although Toya claims that she’s working to save her marriage, Memphitz recently explained why he thinks it fell apart in the first place.
Like Toya, Memphitz confirmed to Sister 2 Sister that he and his wife are indeed separated and explains that part of the reason is because his own personal life has become more important than his marriage.
“I’m definitely separated from my wife. I love my wife. Don’t get me wrong. Nothing has changed as far as the love. There’s no love deficiency. … It’s just the fact that I’m staring to love myself a little bit more,” he explained.
Memphitz gets very candid in the interview and explains that he never planned on marrying Toya, but he proposed in order to keep her from eventually leaving him.
“Of course when I met my wife, we fell in love and we were friends first. … But at the same time when it started to get a little more serious, and we were talking about getting married, you know I had already told her that I would never get married. I seen [sic] people get married and I just didn’t like what I was seeing. I came up with both of my parents and my parents were having a rough time. I had always been scarred from marriage from that,” he explained.
“I told her I would never do that and she said, ‘OK.’ But then, all of a sudden, my feelings sort of started to change. When you love someone and you see them kind of doing their own thing, and it’s like, ‘you know I think I need to take it to another level if I want to keep her around and for her to solely belong to me or be mine,” he added.
However, Memphitz says that marrying a reality star didn’t turn out like he expected. And one of the issues turned out to be an argument with his wife over defending himself on “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” over K. Michelle’s abuse accusations.
