Rapper Immortal Technique arrested after confrontation with bootlegger

Popular underground rapper Immortal Technique was arrested last week in California for confronting and allegedly attacking a street vendor who was selling unauthorized merchandise with his logo.

The rapper, whose birth name is Felipe Andres Coronel, was arrested along with his tour manager, Steven McDaniel, and charged with suspicion of robbery and attempting to dissuade a victim from reporting a crime. The pair were allegedly among a group of people who approached the vendors outside The Observatory in Santa Ana, California.


“The group confronted them over a dispute that the group was not receiving any money from the sales of the T-shirts,” police told The Los Angeles Times. “The victims stated they were beaten and had their T-shirts, cash and cellphones forcibly taken from them.”

Both Coronel and McDaniel were released after posting $50,000 bail on March 27.


Early Saturday morning Technique used Twitter to thank supporters who reached out to him after the incident and let his fans that he will soon make an official statement on the matter:
