MARTA hosted a town hall discussion on infrastructures at the Five Points Station Amphitheatre on April 9. This event aimed to raise public awareness and seek solutions to America’s transportation infrastructure crisis. They want the U.S. Congress to enact a new, multi-year authorization bill that provides sustainable funding for the Highway Trust Fund. The funds would pay for current federal transit program and growth of the program for transit and highway needs.
Congressman David Scott of the 13th District gave opening remarks. Members of the metro Atlanta community and transportation leaders who were in attendance included, Keith T. Parker, GM/CEO, MARTA; Stacey Key, board member, Georgia Department of Transportation board; Douglas R. Hooker, director, Atlanta Regional Commission; and Luz Borrero, Deputy COO, DeKalb County.
