It’s Zoë Saldana’s first day back at work as the cover model for InStyle magazine. In the pages of the fashion publication, The Guardians of the Galaxy star opened up about growing comfortable with her husband Marco Perego and his modern-day name change.

“Since I’ve been with Marco, I’ve been lowering my guard. Finally when we had our boys I looked at my husband and I realised: I was meant for you and you were meant for me,” she said of Perego, who she has five-month-old twin boys Cy and Bowie with.

She continued, “I’ve always felt comfortable around men as long as they were friends. Now I finally feel comfortable with my lover. I don’t want to be separate. I want my church. I want to live inside the religion of our own little family.” A sentiment that is definitely not one sided. Since the pair tied the knot in 2013, Saldana’s says that her 36-year-old artist beau has chosen to take her surname, despite Zoe trying to “talk him out of it.”

“I tried to talk him out of it. I told him, ‘If you use my name, you’re going to be emasculated by your community of artists, by your Latin community of men, by the world.’ But Marco looks up at me and says, ‘Ah, Zoe, I don’t give a sh-t.'”

Too cute! What do you think of Perego taking Saldana’s last name? Hot or not? Sound off in the comment section below…

i didnt know it was legal awesome .. more men should do this .. i wonder what kind of legalities you face with say? child support, or immigration issues ? he may start a trend ., men need to be able to change thier names some men hate their name . big time .

    • Rachael on June 6, 2015 at 8:25 pm

Why would it not be legal? Anybody can change their name 🙂 And I doubt it would change anything to do with child support, etc.

      • dickin69 on June 7, 2015 at 4:44 am

@Rachael So you are already concerned about child support. WOW that is amazing. I hope they stay together even after they have children just to ruin your joy of seeing another family go through the system.

        • Rachael on June 7, 2015 at 12:19 pm

Ummm, dickin69, are you really that stupid, or did you just not see the fact that my comment is in response to the one I clearly replied to???

When you get married either or both of you can change your name. Some couples hyphenate their names together, some make one that’s totally new, or either can take their spouse’s name. When I got married, the secretary who gave us the marriage license mentioned this to my husband and I. 🙂

awhh he is mexican that make since why he has that dark latin skin he is really a geourgous man ,, no watch some of these modeling agenceys go after him > he looks almost better than brad pitt and definantly better than beckum …. a real cut guy she is not pretty to me at all ..i dont know why magazines keep putting her on calling her pretty …………..there are far more pretty black girls than her , expecailly mixxxed ones she can act thats all i see her able to do NOT PRETTY BY BLACK FOLKS STANDARD BUT WHITES THINK SHE IS GEORGEIOUS WEIRD

    • justice83 on June 6, 2015 at 4:58 pm

You’re seriously ignorant Zoe IS mixed she is Puerto Rican & Dominican so this whole she’s not pretty and there are prettier “black girls” and “mixxxed ones” is ignorant. It basically seems like because she isn’t as light as a lot of “mixed” girls she isn’t as pretty to you and it sounds racist frankly. She is pretty in her own right yes I’ve seen and know a lot of women prettier than her but that doesnt mean she isn’t beautiful to and everyone has a different taste in beauty we dont all have to agree. But to actually cast her under not being pretty by “black folks standards” is hilarious she’s not just a black girl. She has black roots YES because everyone from PR/DR do…but they consider themselves more latina/hispanic and not “black” or “african”

      • unsean on June 6, 2015 at 7:54 pm

You do realize that as ignorant as honeybutter appeared, you so don’t sound much better? Just as she put being dark-skinned on some sort of pedestal, you’re devaluing it isn’t much better. And incase you’re wondering what I mean…”is hilarious she’s not just a black girl. She has black roots YES because everyone from PR/DR do…but they consider themselves more latina/hispanic and not “black” or “african””

And by the way, do you know Zoe Saldana? I ask because I get the feeling that you have absolutely no idea what she thinks about herself, in reference to ethnicity (I would say ‘race’ but anyone with a brain knows that there’s only one race, and the rest is bs we impose on each other).

      • Missgee62 on June 6, 2015 at 10:32 pm

FK THAT PUERTA RICAN ?DOMINICAN MIX!!! The chick is BLACK Latina! BLACK!!!!!

      • Likewaterforchoc on June 6, 2015 at 10:40 pm

Latin or Hispanic is an ethnicity not a race. There are black Latinos and white Latinos.

You shouldn’t be allowed to have an opinion on ANYTHING until you learn how to form and punctuate a sentence.

    • Love on June 7, 2015 at 11:51 am

Where did it even say he was Mexican? I think he’s actually Spanish.. Meaning From Spain. That name says he’s definitely European

      • Love on June 7, 2015 at 11:52 am

But I agree he is one sexy man ! I’m happy for her. Idk about the name thing just seems like they’re trying too hard to be different. Typical Hollywood weird shit that every basic couple is gonna copy.

        he’s actually italian

I was just talking about this to myself recently – men considering taking on their wives last name. Ultimately that choice is between the two people, but I think tradition has been so ingrained in society, that women believe they HAVE to change their last name. No, you don’t. Why don’t men do it for a change? Especially if the men are not too crazy about their last name. Or if they feel they are ready for a new identity as they embark on a new journey with marriage. To each its own, but trust me, the thought is not so ridiculous.

  6. mrhowell2002 on June 6, 2015 at 4:57 pm

A soft man… He says that but the man I supposed to be the head… #weak

    • Rachael on June 7, 2015 at 1:11 pm

So him changing his last name to her last name makes him weak?! You’re such a misogynist.

  7. Mary Jenkins on June 6, 2015 at 10:16 pm

It’s beautiful to want to share a name with someone you love. And it’s beautiful to love someone so much that you no longer care what a bunch of strangers might say in the comment section of an article. This Marco sounds like a great husband, and I hope he and Zoe have a long and joyful marriage.

Congrats to them! It’s sweet. It means he is confident in his masculinity and his sexuality. No wonder she loves him. I like the whole world they have together that she describes as spiritual.

That’s what I’m talking about. Not so much the action of taking her surname, just his response of ‘I don’t give a shit’. DO YOU MAN. <3
