Things have officially gone from bad to worse for Bobby Shmurda.
Over the weekend the 20-year-old New York rapper appeared in front of a judge to answer to new weapons charges brought against him after he was caught with a knife allegedly smuggled in by his girlfriend during a visit last month.
Authorities claim Shmurda’s girlfriend, 18-year-old Kimberly Rousseau, smuggled in the knife during a June 21 visit to the “Hot N***a” rapper. After being caught with the weapon, Shmurda reportedly tried to lie to jail officials about where he had obtained it. He now faces felony and misdemeanor charges of promoting prison contraband, perjury and criminal possession of a weapon. If found guilty of these new charges, Shmurda could get an additional seven years in prison. He is currently facing 25 years for the charges of his previous arrest that include conspiracy, attempted murder, and murder.
Rousseau was arrested and charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of promoting prison contraband and a misdemeanor count of criminal possession of a weapon. She pleaded not guilty on all charges and now has an August court date.
Shmurda is due back in court in October.
