During Georgia’s tax-free weekend, recording artist Jeezy and his Street Dreamz Foundation teamed up with The Hip-Hop Professional™ Shanti Das (HipHopPro.Org) for her 4th annual Backpack Blessings Back to School Drive. Community leaders and customers supported the event with donations that included bags purchased on site and financial donations at the historic Walmart on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. One thousand backpacks will be donated to local elementary schools in the Atlanta Public Schools system just in time for students returning to school on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015.

Jeezy, Jagged Edge’s Wingo, Atlanta City Council President Ceasar C. Mitchell, Atlanta City Councilman Andre Dickens (Post 3 At-Large), Xavier and Deidre Fleetwood (Hale Intermodal), Deborah Jennings, Roger Bobb (BobbCat Films), Marlon Nichols, and Bryan and Angela Williams were among the donors.

Walmart’s Quincy Springs and his team, Porsha Sinclair, Brittany Brewster, Korrie Payne and Phillana Williams all lent their support. –shanti das
