A man in Texas attempted to frame Black Lives Matter. According to reports by KDFW, Scott Lattin called police and reported that his truck had been vandalized in a racial attack.
The seats in his truck were slashed and the words “Black Lives Matter” were spray-painted on the vehicle. They also said a computer and scanner were stolen during the crime. Lattin claimed that he was targeted because he supports police and has a memorial of an officer who was slain in Houston.
Lattin set up a GoFundMe account and began receiving donations to cover $5,000 worth of damage. He eventually received $6,000.
However, police noticed the inconsistency in his story after Lattin did an interview with a local news station. He was eventually arrested after it was discovered that he lied about the entire story in an attempt to disparage Black Lives Matter and collect insurance money.
Lattin is an example of how some racists have negative views of the Black Lives Matter movement without actually understanding the importance of bringing attention to police brutality.
