Most girls at the adolescent age of 6 years old spend their time attending sleepovers or playing with their favorite dolls, but that wasn’t the case for tween sensation Shaniah Jones. The rising superstar was busy focusing on pursuing a career in music. She kicked off her career with her debut song “Tutu’s and Tennis Shoes.”
Her online music video brought in a whopping 3 million views on Youtube. She not only gained a new, massive fanbase, but also captured the attention of legendary record executive L.A. Reid. “It was so awesome when I met him. We sat down and had a cool conversation when I visited New York,” she says.
Five years later, the Atlanta native continues to travel, performing at shows and posh birthday parties. She even had the pleasure of opening up for notable acts like the OMG Girlz, Jacob Latimore and Diggy Simmons. Jones definitely stays busy, but don’t think she maintains her career on her own. This diva-in-training is being managed by none other than her dedicated mother. “My mom has always styled me. Of course, I always wore tennis shoes and tutus, but now that I am getting older, we are changing things up,” says Jones.
She also mentions admiring the relationship between Beyonce and Tina Knowles and hopes to work with her in the near future. “I admire Beyonce, because she started out young just like me and has had great success even when she got older,” she says.
Jones is currently working on new music and has teamed up with the Be Amped campaign organized by Lisa Gee to help spread awareness on breast cancer. “I am very happy to be a part of this movement. I come from a family with a lot of women, so just in case something happens it’s important to have this kind of information,” she adds.
Jones understands the importance of giving back at a young age and hopes to be a role model for young girls just like her. It is safe to say this young lady has a very bright future in the music industry.
