Police arrested another man in connection with a racist threat made to Black students at the University of Missouri. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Connor B. Stottlemyre, 19, used the app Yik Yak to post the message, “I’m gonna shoot any black people tomorrow, so be ready.” The following morning, Stottlemyre was arrested at his dorm on the Northwest Missouri State University campus.
Stottlemyre’s threat comes after another racist, Hunter Park, used Yik Yak to spew notions of a racist terrorist attack. “I’m going to stand my ground tomorrow and shoot every black person I see,” Park wrote. Police eventually tracked down Park, who allegedly uploaded the post from Rolla, Missouri, which is 100 miles south of Columbia, Missouri.
The racist comments are in response to the demonstration by Black students at the University of Missouri who wanted to bring attention to racism on campus. When Black student-athletes on the school’s football team decided not to play as a form of protest, president Tim Wolfe resigned. However, the resignation has been followed by more protests and individuals such as Stottlemyre and Park, who have used the incident to spread more racism and hate.
Stottlemyre was arrested and taken to the Nodaway County Jail, but he has yet to be charged with a crime.
