Demoiselle 2 Femme founded by Sherida Morrison and Romanthea Looper was created to address the social and personal problems of adolescent females in the Chicago’s Englewood community and provide them with positive role models that would assist them in becoming successful young women.
Recently, these role models were chosen and recognized as the 40 under 40 Young Women Professionals. These women were nominated and chosen as the inaugural class of dynamic role models that will use their amazing skills to mentor young ladies across the Chicago area.
The 40 Under 40 Young Women Professionals award was developed by Demoiselle 2 Femme, NFP “Next Generation (NGen) Council” to honor and recognize young women who are rising leaders making an impact in their field. The award ceremony serves as the official induction into the 40 Under 40 Young Women Professionals League (YWPL). YWPL is a philanthropic initiative for women ages 25-40. Their mission is to build a network of young professional women who support the holistic development of future leaders through the conduits of leadership socials, community service activities, and philanthropy.
Cheresa Purnell an alumni of Demoiselle 2 Femme and Chair of “Next Generation Council” hosted the nights events at the Promontory. The spirit of the event was lively and purposeful. Sherida Morrison gave a stirring speech calling all of these young women to help make our future generations of women great.
It was an amazing evening. It was extremely powerful to be in the presence of so many intelligent, driven and beautiful women. Our future is bright.
