For the first time in her 24 years of growing up in Detroit, music artist DeJ Loaf attended and supported the 33rd annual Coats for Kids event, which took place Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015. Local hip-hop radio station FM98 WJLB and the Salvation Army hosted the 12-hour fundrasing broadcast to collect donations to ensure that Detroit children will keep warm this winter.
Since the debut of her 2014 hit single “Try Me,” the rising rap star has been extremely busy adjusting to stardom, working with the industries most talented hit-makers, touring, styling and profiling so it was definitely a huge surprise when DeJ showed up in her hometown to spend time with the kids. Hundreds of children gathered around the stage with face paintings of Dej’s name on their cheeks and their cellphones in hand ready to capture themselves next to the 2015 XXL Freshman cover artist.
