Mendeecees Harris delivers a love letter to his nearly one-year-old daughter Skylar.

Since news broke of his eight year sentence for trafficking cocaine and heroin through Rochester, New York, earlier this month, both Yandy Smith and Harris have remained pretty positive. On Dec. 2, Harris shared an inspirational message via Instagram: “I want you all to understand something. I completely accept responsibility for all that is going on. My transition to be a better person a productive person started well before this case. However in my past I made some bad decisions.”

He continued, “Young men let my life be an example to you now before it’s too late. Better who you are now in your children’s lives and in society so you can change the path of your fate. Lack of opportunities, a fatherless home, the unforgiven neighborhood and circumstances you grew up in can no longer be your excuse. Trust me I tried. And it doesn’t make the pain your family feels any different. Young man educate your self and break the cycle.”

And while the “Love and Hip Hop” alum has the ability to chat with his eldest sons while serving time, it’s unclear how his time behind bars will affect the dynamic of their family and more so, his relationship with his little girl. So, he delivered a video message exclusively for his leading lady.

“Dear baby Skylar, I always wanted a girl first. I always prayed for you. I’m your protector. There is no man, or nobody on earth who is ever going to love you more than I love you….” opened Harris in a series of clips shared via Instagram.
