Cailtyn Jenner’s world was shaken earlier this year when she was involved in a February traffic accident that left one woman dead after Jenner’s car collided with hers. Jenner was already able to avoid manslaughter charges for the accident. Now, it’s been revealed that she’s settled a suit over the accident, as well.
As previously reported, the accident took place on Feb. 7, 2015, on the Malibu Pacific Coast Highway when Jenner’s Cadillac Escalade and four other cars were involved in a major pileup. Jenner’s truck ran at a high rate of speed into a Lexus, pushing the car of 69-year-old Kimberly Howe into oncoming traffic, killing her.
The L.A. County D.A. had the option to file manslaughter charges against Jenner for violating the speed law by not slowing down quickly enough. However, the D.A. rejected the case, saying that although Jenner was delayed in pumping the brakes, her actions were not “unreasonable” based on all the facts.
According to TMZ, Jessica Steindorff was the driver of a Prius that was involved in the accident and she filed a suit against Jenner for personal injury and property damage.
However, it was reported yesterday that Jenner’s insurance company paid the settlement without Jenner having to pay out any money from her own account.
Although Jenner is now in the clear with that case, the report claims that she’s still facing a lawsuit from the driver and the passengers of a Hummer that was involved in the crash, as well as another lawsuit from the stepchildren of Howe.
There’s a chance that Jenner will be able to settle those cases as well, but we’ll watch and see how those play out for her.
