Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 stamped the fourth annual Georgia Entertainment Gala, a black tie award show honoring individuals who have made an impact in Georgia’s music, film, television and technology industries. The spectacular evening was held at the Georgia World Congress – Sidney Marcus Auditorium in Atlanta and hosted by actors Pooch Hall of BET’s “The Game“ and Valery Ortiz from Vh1’s “Hit the Floor.”
The star-studded event is not only a platform for celebrating the immense talent the peach state has to offer but also a time to give back to the community. With the support of numerous partnerships and sponsors, a portion of the proceeds will benefit two phenomenal charities: Atlanta Children Shelter and Angels Among Us Pet Rescue.
This year, winners of the 2016 Georgia Highlight Award included actor Ronreaco Lee (BET’s “Let’s Stay Together”), chief creative officer of Momentus Marketing Mil Cannon, founder and CEO of Legendary Events Tony Conway, jazz vocalist and songwriter Kathleen Bertrand, and executive director for the Georgia Game Developer Association Andrew Greenberg. Winners for the evening included Christine Pullara Newton for Outstanding Achievement Award; The Center for Puppetry Arts for Outstanding Contribution to the Georgia Entertainment Industry; Catherine Dyer for Georgia’s Best Actor Award; Maxie McClintock for the Georgia’s Rising Star Award; Brantly Jackson Watts for People to Watch in the Georgia Entertainment Industry; and Elizabeth Hunter for the Youth Artist Award. In addition, All of the Locals took home the Georgia’s Music Award while the film, “Bless Yer Heart,”,won Georgia’s Best Independent Award.
