On Feb. 22, Kontrol Magazine hosted their first annual Women of Style Dinner, a series of dinners that are designed to honor amazing women making moves in the fashion and beauty world. The spectacular event took place at House of Blended Ink in Atlanta. The mood for the evening was set with an elegant black and gold themed atmosphere designed by Kimberly Hamilton of Sapphire Décor, Sweet Seats, Divine Celebrations and Imperial Hair Collections.

Kontrol‘s latest cover girl, Angela Simmons, was recognized for her contributions to the fashion industry with the first Women of Style Award. “This award means a lot to mean and this night is a moment that I will always cherish with me,” said Simmons.

Simmons is much more than the daughter of hip-hop legend Rev. Run (of Run-D.M.C). She has created a lane for herself by launching several major brands in the apparel industry, including a sneaker line, Pastry; online clothing boutique, Angela I AM; and her newest collection of faux furs, Foofi and Bella.

In addition to running a fashion empire, Simmons is also currently featured on the WE tv reality show “Growing up Hip Hop.” No matter what new business venture the 28-year-old starlet gets her hands on, it is sure to be a success. “I love what I do and I think that’s what keeps me motivated. When you’re passionate about your craft nobody can stop you from you were meant to accomplish,” she says.

As the guests mixed and mingled with Simmons, they were served with some of Atlanta’s finest cuisine provided by local caterer Ebony Jones and Brown Sugar Desserts. Delicious cocktails served by bartending company Rum on the Run were also swirling around the room courtesy of sponsors Effen Vodka and Martell Cognac.
