The worst-case scenario for the 2016 Presidential Election would be Donald Trump claiming victory. Trump has proven to be a simpleton who uses rhetoric, intimidation and brashness to build support for his campaign.
His campaign has also been fueled by racism. Trump has retweeted false information about Black crime against Whites; he has said all Muslims should be banned from America; and he wants to build a wall between America and Mexico.
Killer Mike, who is an adamant supporter of Bernie Sanders, recently sat down with rolling out to share how Blacks and the poor should respond if Donald Trump becomes president.
A.R. Shaw: This is one of the weirdest presidential races that I can remember. If something catastrophic happens and Donald Trump ends up in the White House, what happens to the Black community? Where do we go if this happens?
Killer Mike: Black people have survived every system in the world, so you know how to survive. Blacks survived communism in Cuba, socialist countries in Africa, Blacks have survived this republic that is a democracy in America. You thrived in Jim Crow, you thrived in slavery. We’ve been an intelligent people that can survive. Harriet Tubman said, “I have freed thousands of slaves, but I could have freed thousands more had they known they were slaves.” Black people can survive in any system, you have survived and thrived in any system. But the bigger question is what’s up for poor people and working class people? There are more Blacks who are working class people, but you can find poor Asians and Latinos out West, poor Spanish people in New York, and poor Whites in the Midwest and Appalachian Mountains. Poor people have a lot to be afraid about. If anybody besides Bernie Sanders wins, you’re in trouble because everyone else is firmly married to corporations and corporations don’t give a damn about you. It’s just that simple. Corporations don’t care what they put in your food, they don’t care what they put in your medicine, and they don’t care how your children are reacting to chemicals.
Killer Mike will be featured on an upcoming cover of rolling out.
