The elderly muggings in New York boroughs seem to be commonplace. Police are also looking for a serial mugger named Clarence Jones. The 64-year-old is accused of targeting elderly women in Brooklyn and Queens. In five attacks, Jones allegedly flashed a gun or knife before robbing his victims.
Jones, who is 5’8″ tall and weighs about 202 pounds, has a criminal past. He has 19 prior arrests and spent 14 years in prison for the exact same crime. New York authorities are ready to put him away for good for these heartless attacks. He left Erin Van Schendel, 83, badly bruised following a Saturday afternoon attack in Flatbush, Brooklyn.
In January, the gray haired goon followed a 71-year-old woman into her home near Prospect Place in Brooklyn, tied her up, pulled out a pistol, and bashed her in the face. He robbed her of $375.
On March 2, Jones is also accused of mugging victim Elizabeth Gioino, 91, who was tackled from behind by an armed man in the vestibule of her Park Slope brownstone in Brooklyn.
Police and the Brooklyn borough president are offering a combined $3,500 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
