One of Atlanta’s biggest summer festivals will take place on May 13 and 14 at Central Park. The Pepsi Funk Fest will feature some of the biggest names in music as well as Atlanta legends such as TLC, Babyface, and Goodie Mob.
Here are 10 things you need to know about the festival prior to arrival.
1. Snoop will headline Friday night
A music festival isn’t a music festival without the legend himself Snoop Dogg. Known to pass blunts and engage crowd participation, you can expect Tha Doggfather to perform classics such as “Gin & Juice”, “Nuthin but a G Thang”, “Ain’t No Fun,” plus more.
2. Master P is performing
Master P needs no introduction. The man is literally one of the god-fathers of southern rap, so expect to hear some of his classic hits being performed.
3. Old School R&B will be in full effect
With New Edition, Babyface, SWV, TLC, and Jon B all on the same bill, you might want to bring your significant other to the show with you.
4. Goodie Mob brings it back to ATL.
Of course, this would not be a show without Cee-Lo, and Goodie Mob. They are to Atlanta what The Beatles were to England.
5. Babyface will more than likely run through all of his hits over the span of 20 plus years
If you’ve ever attended a Babyface concert, then you will know exactly what I mean.
6. Plan your parking in advance
Events such as this will attract a high volume of people which means traffic will be hectic. Plan ahead of time, and get to the venue early. Premium Parking is available at Grady High School with a shuttle service provided. Additional parking will be available at The Atlanta Civic Center. For other parking options with nearest available parking, choose Standard Parking, in which you will be given choices via ParkWhiz.com. You can also download the Park Whiz App for Funk Fest locations,www.parkwhiz.com/parking-app/.
7. Shuttles will be available
Shuttles will be provided from all Park Whiz (Lanier) locations, every 15 -20 minutes.
8. Dress comfortably
Self-explanatory.
9. Be mindful of the items that you may bring
Outside food and beverages, tents, grills, video recorders, coolers, bags larger than 12×12, pets (except as aids to persons with disabilities) and golf umbrellas (where rain is in the forecast, only purse-size umbrellas and ponchos are allowed) are all items that are NOT allowed, and also they will be confiscated at the gate.
10. When it rains, it pours, and the show will go on
This event will be held rain or shine. However, the current forecast on Weather.com calls for clear skies throughout the weekend.
