President Obama has spent much of his second term working on pushing pro-LGBT legislation and most recently his administration has turned its attention to transgender rights in regard to the infamous bathroom access laws. And now it seems that Obama’s efforts have caused too much of a stir among some states because 11 of them are filing a lawsuit against him.

As previously reported, the Obama administration recently announced that it plans to reaffirm its view that protections for transgender students are necessary and acceptable because they fall under Title IX, a federal law that prohibits sex-based discrimination in federally funded education programs and activities.

The report claims that the administration’s proposed protections not only deal with bathroom and locker-room access, but also protect trans students from bullying, harassment and invasion of privacy.

According to media reports, Oklahoma, Alabama, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Tennessee, Maine, Arizona, Louisiana, Utah and Georgia have all banded together to file lawsuit against Obama over the Title IX directive. Two school districts in Arizona, one school district in Texas and Maine Gov. Paul LePage have also joined the lawsuit as well.

The lawsuit reads that the administration “conspired to turn workplace and educational settings across the country into laboratories for a massive social experiment, flouting the democratic process, and running roughshod over commonsense policies protecting children and basic privacy rights.”

It’s expected that Obama will fight back against the lawsuit and continue to push his directive considering that he strongly defended it last week.

“I think that is part of our obligation as a society to make sure that everybody is treated fairly, and our kids are loved, and protected, and their dignity is affirmed,” Obama said.

Well, what do you think of this lawsuit? Do you agree or disagree? Let us know in the comments.
