Pastor Corey Brook’s Project Hood group and associates came together to create the first Hip Hop Summer Fest in Chicago. Artists from the old school and new school came out to perform. Two stages were on opposite ends of Addams/Medill Park to cater to the different styles of hip-hop music. One stage housed younger artists, including Lil Kemo, Katie Got Bandz and D Low. The greats in hip-hop, such as Big Daddy Kane, Chuck Rock, Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, Crucial Conflict, and well-known DJs. The event lasted three days.
