“My Dear Friend, My Dear Morehouse Brother – Da Great Actor Bill Nunn As Most Of You Know Him As Radio Raheem Passed Away This Morning In His Hometown Of Pittsburgh. Long Live Bill NUNN. RADIO RAHEEM Is Now RESTING IN POWER. RADIO RAHEEM WILL ALWAYS BE FIGHTING DA POWERS DAT BE. MAY GOD WATCH OVER BILL NUNN,” Spike Lee writes on Instagram. This message is to actor Bill Nunn, who had his film debut in Lee’s 1988 musical-comedy School Daze and had roles in the director’s films Mo’ Better Blues and He Got Game.
But if you say, Radio Raheem, another of Lee’s cult flick, Do The Right Thing (1989), Nunn holding that boom box is at the top of mind.

In an interview earlier this year with EURWeb, Nunn shared about the 25th anniversary of the Mario Van-Peebles’ cult classic New Jack City (1991), that his character Duh Duh Man who in an opening scene with NIno Brown (played by Wesley Snipes) was hanging a man over a bridge with traffic below and unknowing citizens attempting to help the man, who was also an actor.
This too was another memorable role for fans who’d often approach him calling out Duh Duh Man. Other times, he was addressed as Radio Raheem.
He continues, “I take it as very complimentary that these guys still care about us. I get a lot of Duh Duh Duh man love. I don’t think it’s taken over Radio Raheem, but it’s become really memorable though to people.”
According to his wife, Donna, Nunn, 62, has been battling cancer and died at his home in Philadelphia.
