Rumors of Whoopi Goldberg’s alleged exit from “The View” have been buzzing for quite some time now.
Only, it appears there’s some truth behind the gossip. On Friday, Sept. 23, the veteran talk show host dropped by “The Wendy Williams Show,” where she revealed she’s “probably not” returning after season 20. “I know you’ve only signed on, according to what we’ve talked about, for one more year,” Williams said, diving right into the tea. “So, in September, when everyone comes back for the new season, you might not be there.”
“No, probably not,” Goldberg replied, acknowledging that she has signed on for only one more season of daytime talk show. “I have to do it, baby,” Goldberg continued, “because I have to go and grow. I’ve got stuff to do. I’ve got movies I need to direct, I got books I gotta finish.”
Added the Sister Act star, who first appeared on the show in 2007, “This was great and I love doing it, but it’s been awhile and they’re in their 20th season. They did this without me. I’ve been here for half of it, but not all of it.”
Over the last few years, the ABC staple show has seen its fair share of co-hosts. Most recently, “The View” announced Sara Haines had joined as new co-host, alongside Goldberg, Joy Behar, Candace Cameron Bure, Paula Faris and Raven-Symoné, all of whom returned for season 20 on September 6. Meanwhile, Goldberg revealed that whether or not this is her last go-round, people need to know that she hasn’t left just yet.
“I’m not gone yet, so I’m still there now,” she said. “Don’t worry about it.”
