The Midwest Powerfest headlined by rapper Gucci Mane and held at Chicago’s UIC Pavilion was an interesting affair. Fans of Gucci Mane made their way inside anticipating the return of their favorite rapper, who just recently completed parole. On May 13, 2014, Gucci Mane pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. It landed him in jail for two years. Upon his release, Gucci transformed himself into a new man with significant weight loss and a lighter mood.

The Midwest Powerfest was a showcase of Chicago artists. The most notable performances came from Bo Deal and Joe Rodeo, who is one of Future’s newest artists. It was clear who the people came to see. At one point during the event, there were about 50 people on the stage. It was said that Gucci would not come out until it was cleared. Once the stage cleared, Gucci came out and performed all of his hits to the delight of all the 20-somethings mouthing every word.
