In a strange turn of events, as Kanye West recovers from a nervous breakdown his first publicized appearance is a meeting President-elect Donald Trump today at Trump Tower in New York.

West, 39, reportedly requesed the meeting. The president-elect said the two men had been friends “a long time” and that they discussed “life.”

“We’re just friends, just friends. He’s a good man. Going well. Long time – We’ve been friends for a long time,” Trump says to eager press. “Life, we discussed life.”

West has dyed his hair blonde like his “friend.” He looked to be in excellent health as the two of them posed in the gilded lobby.

Corey Gamble, 35, Kris Jenner’s boyfriend was part of West’s entourage.

At one of his final concerts for 2016, West said he didn’t vote but would have voted for Trump. He also called Trump a “genius.”

This type of meeting, although it only lasted 15 minutes, is rare. Only one other person has enjoyed this level of exclusivity with The Donald and it was Softbank Group Corporation CEO Masayoshi Son. None of his appointed cabinet leaders has enjoyed such intimacy.

When questioned whether he’d run for President of the United States in 2020, likely against his “friend” who will be seeking reelection, he says rather frankly, “I just want you to take my picture right now.” West wore all black, a fleece sweat shirt and pants, and white sneakers as he stood next to Trump dressed in a dark blue suit and, blue and white diagonal striped tie and white dress shirt.

Trump’s team is also reportedly having trouble securing A-list performers for his inauguration. Perhaps West will resume his cancelled Life of Saint Pablo Tour and kick if off with a performance during the inauguration.

Singer Ne-Yo found himself in hot water with his fans this weekend when he went on camera and claimed that he would perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next year.
