Did you know that Mobile, Alabama, is the birthplace of America’s original Mardi Gras? Of course, you didn’t but now you do. Mobile is the originator and the ring leader in the grand Mardi Gras celebration dating back to 1703. The celebrations begin two and half weeks before Fat Tuesday so pack your bags and be sure to not miss the fun. Mystic societies work diligently to wow onlookers with elaborate parade floats. Parades feature mounted police and the rhythmic sounds of marching bands. Over one million revelers and partygoers descend on Mobile, Alabama for Mardi Gras parties and balls. Include yourself in the fun this year. This larger-than-life carnival will inspire you with its color, vigor and true Southern hospitality.
