Rising mogul Amber Rose found herself in some serious controversy this week as news circulated that she was being sued by Ace of Diamonds strip club. Now, Rose has apparently responded to the controversy with alleged proof that she owns the company.
According to reports, the drama all started during the All Def Movie Awards, where Rose accepted an award for her work with her famous Slut Walks. During her acceptance speech, Rose claimed that she purchased the iconic Ace of Diamonds strip club.
Not surprisingly, the crowd erupted with cheers after Rose, who is a former stripper, announced the power move. However, it looks like executives at the strip club weren’t happy at all because this weekend it was revealed that SKWS Enterprises, the owners of AoD, filed a $1M lawsuit for slander against Rose, saying that her announcement was “unequivocally false” and that she hasn’t put any money into obtaining ownership of the club.
Well, according to the latest reports, Rose did indeed file a trademark on the name Ace of Diamonds, as well as the abbreviation “AoD,” and has formed a corporation called Ace of Diamonds, Inc. According to the documents, the trademark will be for “entertainment services in the nature of live dance performances” and “gentlemen’s clubs featuring exotic dancing.”
The trademark has yet to be approved but clearly Rose is intent on having ownership of the name and company and Rose will reportedly be opening up a new location in a month and a half.
However, since the original strip club has been around for years and is one of the most popular in the country, we’re not so sure how this legal battle is going to turn out for Rose. Additionally, we wonder why she even chose to try to take over the name and company this way.
What do you think about this controversy, though? Let us know in the comments.
