4. Chief Keef
Love him or hate him, there is no way that you can deny Chief Keef’s influence on the rap game and hip-hop culture. At 21 years of age, he turned the industry on its ear. He filmed a video while on house arrest in his grandmother’s house for his hit single “I Don’t Like” and it was parlayed into a million-dollar signing with Interscope Records. The popularity of the song prompted Kanye to create a remix and it propelled Keef to even higher heights. Take a listen to your most hated and loved mumble rapper and you will hear traces of Keef. The careers of artists like Lil Bibby, Durk and G Herbo can be directly attributed to Keef’s rise. Keef has since left the city of Chicago under a cloud of suspicion that surrounded him as people from his camp were being killed.
