Soundset Music Festival, which is celebrating 10 years, is the largest outdoor concert in Minnesota. This hip-hop festival delivers national artists as well as local groups reppin the Minneapolis sound. This year’s stellar lineup features artists like Migos, Young  MA, Erykah Badu, Tyler the Creator, Ice-T, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Rapsody, Kamaiyah, DJ Ariatari, and Willie Wonka, just to name a few.

See below five reasons to attend the festival this year.

1.  Minnesota State Fair Midway

Minnesota State Fair Midway is a great place for a music festival or just chill. It is also just across the river, minutes away from downtown Minneapolis and a stones throw from St. Paul. With this location you have many options, to get to the fairgrounds by car, bike or to cut down on traffic congestion take Metro Transit. Soundset is on May 27, 2018. That’s the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend. Gates open at 11:00 AM.

2. Music Diversity

Soundset caters to may genres. Of course, this is a hip-hop festival, but you will find 40+ artists performing for over ten hours, giving you an elixir of sound. People of all colors represent the essence of the Twin Cities’ diversification. Soundset sets it off with DJs right away on all stages. You can meet people not just from Minnesota but from all over the US. With such a mix of diversity, you are certain to have an interesting and festive atmosphere.

3. Food

Food is a staple for music festivals. Soundset has options. From fairground vendors to food trucks on Dan Patch Ave, there will be something for everyone — from the basic hamburger and hot dog or something different like Cora’s Best Chicken Wings, Anchor Fish & Chip to West Indies Soul. You can also cool down with ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s.

4. Family Friendly

One of the highlights of Soundset is that it is family friendly. Families have the opportunity to bring children to enjoy the festivities. From face painting and skateboarding, to car shows, there is something for every kid at heart. Children under the age of ten get to experience the music for free, but must be accompanied by a ticket purchasing adult. Maximum (2) children per (1) adult.

5. Music

Last but not the least, attend because Soundset is all about good music. Minneapolis is a diverse city of rich culture and music. It is known for the Minneapolis sound. It does not matter if you know every artist on the lineup or none of them, attending Soundset Music Festival you will leave with the ultimate music experience and maybe fall in love with one or two new artists.
