Through five decades, Chaka Khan has graced the stage of just about every theater and concert hall worldwide. Chaka Khan, who is currently on tour, made a stop in Minnesota to perform at the Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater.

As I recalled earlier this year at Jazz in the Gardens in South Florida, many fans left during Chaka Khan’s set because “she forgot the words to her songs, seemed disinterested and relied on her background singers.” In Minnesota, Chaka Khan walked on to the stage with such grace and beauty and had her signature red long flowing hair. She performed her chart topping hits “I’m Every Woman”, “Aint Nobody”, “Feel For You”, “Tell Me Something Good”, “Sweet Thang” and so many more. Chaka Khan hit every note and danced with her band members, backup dancers and crowd. Chaka Khan gave a great performance and was very friendly with her fans. She even shook fans hands as they stood in front of the stage.

When the night ended, Chaka Khan left the stage and fans began to scream her name as the band members continued play. For my first time seeing Chaka Khan in concert, I was very impressed with her voice and her performance and I left feeling good about having the opportunity to see a living legend perform. -nagashia jackson
