On the evening of Aug. 16, fashion and art collided at the Detroit Institute of the Arts to present Fash Bash 2018 and the Neiman Marcus Art of Fashion runway show. The fashion show, which included fashion cues from the ’80s, featured the upcoming season’s hottest couture fashions from Neiman Marcus and was presented by the Founders Junior Council, a group of young professionals dedicated to introducing young adults to the DIA. Ken Downing, Neiman Marcus’ senior vice president and fashion director who also staged the show, made a grand appearance at the conclusion of the show as he floated down the runway, with both hands in the air, showing his appreciation and gratitude.
The annual event never disappoints, and always brings out Detroit’s most fashion-forward and elite crowd. In addition to the sold-out runway show, the event also featured a cocktail party on the front steps of the DIA, and the Lincoln Motor Company After-glow, which included dancing, drinks and savory bites.
The yearly event has become one of Detroit’s most glitzy charity events, known for its high-fashion appeal. Proceeds from the event will benefit the FJC’s pledge of $1 million to the museum’s endowment campaign, which helps ensure the DIA’s long-term sustainability in the community.
