Lisa Van Allen met R. Kelly, in his 30s at the time, when she was 17 years old and eventually began a sexual relationship with the singer. Allen shared the horrific details of her relationship with R. Kelly on the Lifetime series, “Surviving R. Kelly.”

On Jan. 5, Allen served as a special guest for the viewing event of “Surviving R. Kelly” which was held at rolling out’s headquarters.

Allen gave a gut-wrenching testimony to audience members during the event. She spoke about how R. Kelly controlled everyone around him.

“When I was there in 1998-2001, it was just me and Robert [R. Kelly] at his home,” Allen shared. “It would be different girls coming in to visit, but they could go home.

She revealed that R. Kelly would get physically abusive at times.

“You couldn’t speak to anyone,” Allen said. “He just didn’t want you to speak to anyone other than him. If you did interact with other girls, it would be when he was around. One time, he smacked me and the other time he spanked me with his hand until I cried.”

When asked about how parents could protect their children from predators such as R. Kelly, Allen said, “Before you even get into one of those situations, you have to make sure you instill good values into your child. With me, he knew a lot about my background. He knew that I came from a family where I didn’t have anything.”

She also gave advice to people who may have gone through a similar situation.

“The advice that I give males or females is to always love yourself first,” Allen said. “And the reason why I say that is because when I think back, I always put Rob’s feelings first.”

Allen is currently working on releasing her book, Surviving the Pied Piper.

The markings, likely made using chalk, included the phrases, “rapist pedophile,” “times up,” and “not one more.”
