The 21st annual Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention took place Feb. 15-17, 2019, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Sponsored by blu, the tattoo convention hosted more than 500 international and national tattoo artists, tattooing live. The room was filled with creativity, color, and an unforgettable ambiance.
Special guests included Shanghai Kate, James Vaughn from “Ink Master” season seven and finalist on season one, Kyle Dunbar, Alli Baker from “Best Ink” season two, DaInkMan, “Black Ink Crew,” cast members and many others.
The event featured sideshow acts, live human suspensions and burlesque shows. Vendors included painters, designers, clothing boutiques, and CBD oil distributors. Event sponsor blu, who had the hottest booth, had multiple artists creating artwork and tatting up customers as well while offering their popular E-cigarette products.
DaInkMan, a popular tattoo artist from Philadelphia, was featured live at Blu’s table. DaInkMan has been doing tattoos since he was 16 years old; however, at the 21st annual Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention, he painted a beautiful mural with vibrant colors butterflies, a human female eye and other abstract images. As he painted, he explained his passion for tattooing: “Tattoo[ing] gives our younger generation a way to express themselves. It allows them to open and be expressive just the way they want!”
The Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention gave tattoo artists and tattoo enthusiasts an opportunity to learn, network, and engage in a community setting.
