“Real Housewives of Atlanta” OG NeNe Leakes seems completely wrung out and exhausted emotionally. As most fans of the franchise “Real Housewives” show know, Leakes’ husband Gregg is battling a stage three cancer diagnosis, which has caused upheaval on this small clan.
While on a comedy tour with the likes of Sheri Shephard (former “The View” co-host), Loni Love of “The Real” and veteran comedienne Adele Givens, Leakes paused to share her thoughts on Gregg Leakes’ condition and what it could mean for the family.
Most of all, NeNe Leakes spoke about the fear she felt about the prospect of losing Gregg and questioning whether or not karma had something to do with his affliction.
“I really felt a fear. You only know this if you’ve been married before. You have a fear of starting over, being on your own. That’s the kind of fear I had,” she said. “Like, I don’t know how to pay the utility bills. Not that I don’t know how to pay the utility bill. But I don’t even know who the utilities are. I don’t know who do our pool. I don’t know who cut the lawn. That’s really me being the provider and letting Gregg being the house manager. I know we got Direct Tv cuz it’s been off because Gregg didn’t pay it and the [logo] slid across the tv with the phone number…
“It’s a lot of things that go through your head. What goes through your head is—please don’t put this against me. I’m just saying this for real. As a caretaker, you start—it depends on where your relationship is,” she said, treading carefully and asking for understanding.
“You look at the person and think—you know people love to say, ‘Karma is a b*tch.’ Honest to God—I’m giving y’all the raw, raw, raw. You look at the person and be like, ‘What is that?’ Now, that ain’t right. But you’re human. You look at the person and say, ‘You did so many different things to me. Is this the payback?’ You hope not. But—I’m talking about a caretaker. Maybe you’re getting it back from the time you cheated on me. You don’t never know.
But as a caretaker, these are the thoughts.”
