A Florida man and woman allegedly used dating apps to befriend men with the purpose of doing harm. Tavares Wilson, 31, and Leila Johnson, 24, set up accounts on multiple dating apps and began to develop friendships with the men who were looking for love or sex, according to WTXL.
Johnson would invite the men to an apartment complex with the offer of sex and Wilson allegedly surprised them once they arrived. Wilson would use a gun or knife to rob them of their belongings. The Gainesville Police Department received multiple reports of men being robbed in a similar fashion.
Five men stepped forward, but police believe that other victims were also robbed by Johnson and Wilson. The duo’s crime spree came to an end after they attempted to run the scheme on an undercover cop.
On his Facebook page, Wilson revealed that he was planning to marry his longtime girlfriend, Tyrisha Hunter. The two share a child together.
Johnson and Wilson have been charged with conspiracy to commit an armed robbery.
