As if R. Kelly doesn’t have enough to worry about, a judge in Minnesota marked the “Bump N’ Grind” singer absent and issued a bench warrant for his arrest after declaring Kelly a “no-show” for a mandatory court appearance.
The problem is that Robert Sylvester Kelly, 52, has been holed up in the MCC Chicago prison in Cook County in Chicago since June on federal sex crime charges, and most believe that the judge in Minnesota should have been aware of that.
According to “TMZ,” R. Kelly is being charged with two more sex crimes in Minnesota for engaging in prostitution with someone under 18; and hiring, offering, agreeing to hire someone for sexual contact. Kelly may in the near future face additional state charges in Michigan and Atlanta.
“TMZ” reported that the Minnesota District Attorney’s Office knows that federal officials have him in their custody and won’t hand him over until they’ve finished with the legal process in federal court.
Kelly’s attorney, Steven Greenberg, was outraged at the ruling, telling TMZ, “They never came to get him, wtf was he supposed to do, telepathically transport himself?”
