Why is it important for women of color to work in leadership roles and decision-making capacities?
Our little Brown princesses should see us in charge so they will know that they can do it, too. There are issues that arise that leaders of other races and the other [gender] will never understand about Black women. We must be in position to make these decisions for ourselves.
Why is it important for experienced Black women to reach back and help younger women of color?
My mother at 69 remains poised, graceful and strong. Many young women did not have that example. It is important for us who have “been here” to help our younger generation of Black women along the way, assuring they do not fall into the same pitfalls we did.
What are three success habits you implement into your daily routine to maintain your success, sanity and peace of mind?
The three success habits I have in my daily routine are praying as soon as my eyes open; operating with thankfulness for my return[ing] and new clientele; and leaving any negative energy outside of my boutique.
As a successful woman in business, what is your proudest achievement?
My boutique has become a forethought in the minds of Black women seeking a unique shopping experience. I have been here for several years, but for my fellow Black women to know they will enter Accessory Junkie and leave satisfied and filled with love, that is my proudest achievement.
