Chrisette Michele’s daunting journey of reacceptance begins now

“[The conversations] are focused on me and what I’ve experienced the last four or five years,” she reveals. “It’s been really fun. I think people had a lot of questions that they felt like they couldn’t really ask me personally. So we have a mediator and we field them through the team, and then we talk … in front of everybody.”

If it’s her music you’re wondering about, her gift is as impressive as ever, as evidenced by the snippet she shared with our audience on rolling out TV for the New Music Friday series.

Michele’s remarkable musical ability captured the ear and attention of super-producer Bryan-Michael Cox, who immediately recognized her rare talent.

“I gotta get with people who get me in ways I don’t get myself,” she explains. “Bryan-Michael Cox is one of those people. He’s a special guy, and he’s found much favor. I’m just glad to have found favor in him.”

The chemistry with Cox was cemented by his acceptance of what Michele anticipates will be her self-produced lead single, “F— Boy.” She wouldn’t divulge the song’s inspiration but offers that it is applicable to all men who fit the description. Simple enough … Oh, and B. Cox bobbed his head to her beat.

“I could not think of another term to use to describe what I was feeling,” she added. “My biggest responsibility as a writer [is] to tell the truth. Otherwise, it’s not a real story. And nobody can relate to it. So I had to tell that truth.”

Michele’s untitled album (possibly The Process) has an undisclosed release date.
