How would you describe your style of photography?
My style of photography [is] moody yet vibrant. I love conveying non-traditional emotions, [incorporating] props, and even locations that work with the model’s aesthetics and energy. I love using contrasting colors to make the model pop out of the scene and draw attention to them. My favorite themes to shoot are vintage/retro looks in locations like arcades and diners. I think that there is a certain timeless vibe about them and being able to put my spin on those scenes is really fun.
Name your favorite role models for success.
My all-time favorite role model for success is my father. He inspired me to balance my creativity with diligence and hard work. He is an amazing musician and visual artist and has used his skills to propel him through a career in marketing that has provided a truly blessed life for my siblings and me.
Name the most significant personalities you’ve photographed.
One of the most significant people I shot was Eva Marcille. I was a huge fan of Eva’s growing up and meeting her was surreal. I’m eternally grateful for the opportunity that my friend Corey Arvinger entrusted me. I also shot Da Brat at that same time. Both women were extremely down to earth and their energy was infectious. The fact that I was able to shoot with someone of her caliber, literally a top model, was a game-changer.
